Henry chose street names in Tanilba Bay that reflected loyalty to his country. Henry F Halloran was born in Sydney to parents of German heritage, and during World War I many Australians with German backgrounds faced suspicion. To demonstrate his patriotism to Australia and the Allied cause, Halloran chose symbolic street names when developing Tanilba Bay. The streets Success, Conquest, Victory and Peace reflect the language of Allied triumph and the hope for peace following the end of the war.

During World War I, strong anti-German feelings led to many German-born residents being interned and German place names being changed. Even by 1920, people of German background still faced discrimination. As Henry F.
